The 2021 reissue of the CLOT x Nike Air Max 1 ‘Kiss of Death’ revives a fan-favorite collaborative colorway initially released in 2006. Like the original, the retro runner is marked by a deconstructed tan suede upper with transparent paneling on the toe box and a scaly texture on the Swoosh. The heel overlay undergoes a color flip, featuring an orange CLOT logo against a red backdrop while the translucent rubber outsole reveals a reflexology-inspired graphic in a new multicolor design.
You would be hard pressed to find a collaboration as legendary as the CLOT x Nike Air Max 1 Kiss of Death 2021. A shoe that debuted back in 2006, it’s the brainchild of Hong Kong multi-hyphenate Edison Chen, iconic artist MC Yan, and of course the Beaverton brand. Originally used to celebrate the opening of China’s first sneaker boutique, it’s now set to make a comeback sixteen years later, and to say that we’re beyond hyped is an understatement in itself.Designed with the ideology of “chi” in mind, CLOT’s first AM1 shoe is painted in a truly one-of-a-kind colour scheme that’s unheard of these days. While it may feature a pretty clean beige upper, this acts as a canvas for a series of ultra vibrant hues that have become synonymous to this shoe. For instance, a soft orange tone arrives on the ostrich skin heel, while bold red accents make their way to the tongue and snakeskin Nike Swoosh that elegantly glides across the lateral and medial side panels.
